Tasting Notes

Aromas are of roasted and smoky black fruits. This is structured, revealing its Cabernet Sauvignon framework of noticeable tannins and full body. The dark fruits are ripe and appetizing, notably showing currants and macerated black cherries. Savory notes from the Monastrell and Syrah include a certain woodsiness and earth mixed with smoke, black pepper and chocolate.

This wine is the result of a rigorous selection process, choosing only the best grapes from the Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon variety. The grapes were hand harvested in the third week of October at their optimum ripening point in 15 kg boxes. The selected fruit was chosen by experienced sorters and each variety was macerated in contact with the skins and fermented for 20-30 days at controlled temperatures. It then spent 12 months in new French and American oak barrels.

Ego Bodegas is a few kilometers from the historic centre of Jumilla. This project was created with the aim of working with the best vineyards in the area and of achieving the best grapes to produce high-quality wines, loyal to the variety and representative of the area. Ego Bodegas has 25 hectares of vineyards, most of them planted with the local Monastrell variety, ungrafted, and with an average age of 50 years.

The climate in the area is continental, with the influence of the Mediterranean to the East and the plateau of La Mancha to the West.
