The 2019 Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

Vibrant aromas of black cherry and caramel introduce this wine. The palate is medium weight with forthright, fresh red fruits (raspberries, plums), along with touches of stone, spice and licorice and a texture that is integrated and supple. This delicious wine is sustainably-farmed and fermented and aged in concrete vats.

Quite aromatic with aromas of cherry, grenadine, pomegranate, flowers, star anise and light toast. The palate shows flavors of dark-raspberry, boysenberry, roasted fennel and violets. It is silky, fresh, medium-plus in body with a long finish.

This wine begins with dark, steeped berries encircling fireplace and pine forest aromas. in the mouth, it is creamy and full-flavored, exhibiting wild black currant and dark chocolate flavors mixed with sweet tobacco and black cherry candy. The wine envelops your whole mouth and glides down the throat, leaving a hint of smoke and mocha. First rate and drinking beautifully now, but will age through 2028.

Tobacco, anise, earth and garrigue all come through in this wine. Over indulge with the aromas of red currants, smoke, baking spice, raspberry and violets. This is medium plus in body with a full and long finish with some warming qualities and medium plus tannins. This wine is still young but clearly exhibits some age worthy qualities.

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. Dark stewed fruit of  blackberry and black currant introduce the wine. Fresh, ripe, and lightly smoky black fruits are balanced with a nice backbone of medium-plus acidity and touches of earth. Raspberry and plum notes emerge with time. This is medium bodied and lifted, making it a flavorful summer red.

A fragrant wine with lavender, blackberry, raspberry, warm earth, and touch of wild herbs. The flavors have a good amount of classic Grenache that is fleshy and darkly fruited with grippy structured tannins that give a root like quality. There are some mineral notes and black olives with red raspberry on the end.

Ripe strawberry and watermelon aromas with a touch of confection and citrus greet you on the nose. The palate is soft and rounded with lovely, succulent strawberry-white raspberry notes. This is dry, fresh and comes in a liter bottle -- what more could you want for summer?
